pre-sxsw, i had downloaded a link to the new tanlines ep. listened to it for about 6 seconds and was like, meh. never again really thought about it. i'm pretty sure i heard them dj'ing at the fader fort one day, but wasn't exactly sure. checking it now, though, and i gotta say while it's not the most original (or even remotely original) thing, the overall style/sound is pretty perfect for a chillaxing summer day. think ideal summer porch party/bbq. if major lazer and el guincho got together and threw it down, you'd end up with something sounding awfully similar to tanlines. big dance dub beats, tropical flavor, casiokeyboard-esque synth beats, it's all very simple instrumentation but still shamelessly fun. check it out for the perfect chill summer jam soundtrack.
