only big boi can get away with such a rhyme. it certainly doesn't hurt that he's backing up the lovely androgynous funk soul pop songstress janelle monae, though. her new single "tightrope," which is the first single released from her forthcoming debut full release, archanchroid - due to drop this spring, is undeniably catchy and addicting. i fell in love with this pompador sporting vintage pint-sized r&b diva last year at sxsw, where i caught her OWNING both the fader fort and the rolling stone party. bitch body surfed, boogied unrelentlessly and wailed in her hand-held mic. first show in eons where i picked up a disc legally, supporting the artist straight at the merch stand and pickd up her ep 'metropolis: the chase suite'. girl croons, has got some unspoken oddball obsession with robots and space, and has got plenty of all-star pals (hellloooo outkast) to back up her beats with plenty of bass thumping, guitar wailing and futuristic production. girl just wants to have fun. i know i'ma catch her live set when she rocks 2 consecutive nights at schuba's on 3/29 and 3/30. tix are only 15 bones, shit will be a weird ass dance party.

Yo I loooooooooove Janelle Monae and I'm super excited I get to experience her in concert at the Black Cat in DC tonight! She is awesome!!!! Oh and her album "ArchAndroid" drops May 18th!!!!!! Def. a must BUY!
