unemployment : el guincho edition.

so if i had a job i probs wouldn't have been able to hit up the free el guincho noon show at millennium park today. so that was pretty cool. strolled solo but wound up having a pal meet up with me who i havent seen in a while so that was neato. busted out the dirty blue sheet. instead of the usual obligatory bottle of merlot, i busted out the aluminum water bottle and hummus bread stick snacks. guess i am a white girl, after all. (gotta save energy and drunkenness for the awesomeness that will unfold as the budos band and caribou in a few hours!)

the show itself was pretty stellar. opted for a farther back lawn seat instead of the chairs, spread out with a book. the sound quality was super solid. homeboy lost his voice, being from barcelona and all, with spain winning the world cup last night. still managed to hold through, it should be interesting to see how his performance at schubas tonight holds up though. . . (wish i was going!)

last time i saw pedro bust out it was november 2008, following a breakup in the coldest winter of the year. who was my date? oh the said ex boyfriend from recent breakup. he did not like el guincho. i liked him. it was awkward. but regardless of the less than ideal situation at the time, i still managed to get entranced with the chillwave spanish animal collectivey vibes he was spitting and forgot, albeit momentarily, that it was cold as fuck outside, due to the warm, summery tropical samples and spanish chanting. i wish i knew what he was saying, but the music speaks enough in itself that i could care less if dude's rapping about hemmehroids. i just like dancing. and el guincho makes me dance.

it was nice to see the summery jam dance party in the actual sunshine though, with blue skies and green grass. pritzker pavillion is really fun in the summer. he even played some new songs in addition to all my faves from alegranza! including palamitos park, antemillas and others. he's also super adorbs, so that helped.

free music is fun. outside shows are great. friends? even better. got a huge ass crew in tow tonight, but if yer available hit up the jodi hotline and join our shit. it will be real. (and omg there are SO many shows this week b4 p4k! can't even handle the awesome music that's bout to follow, expect many more music-y blogs on hurr in the near future).
